Originally constructed to cater to the needs of Valderrama's workers and greenkeepers, La Cañada golf course has blossomed into an exceptional destination in its own right, offering a delightful golfing experience for all. Spanning 5,841 meters from the white tees, this 18-hole course (Par 71) showcases the talents of two distinguished designers: David Thomas and Robert Trent Jones Senior, each responsible for crafting nine captivating holes. For two decades, La Cañada remained a modest 9-hole course until the appointment of Dave Thomas in 2002. The practice area at La Cañada boasts an expansive driving range spanning 5,000 square meters and stretching 250 meters in length, making it one of the largest in the Costa del Sol region. Complementing this impressive facility are two practice putting greens and an approach area, allowing golfers to refine their skills. Situated in the hills adjacent to Valderrama, the Trent Jones-designed portion of the course offers a challenging and occasionally windswept terrain. The lengthy opening hole sets the stage for a demanding round of golf, while the 4th hole presents a mysterious challenge with no glimpse of the green until the third shot.
