Gran Canaria is home to the oldest golf club in Spain, the Real Club de Golf Las Palmas, which was established in 1891. It is located beside an old volcanic crater, highlighting Gran Canaria's volcanic origins and offering breathtaking views of the summit, sea, and deep ravines. The course is relatively short and features narrow fairways, small greens, and deep ravines throughout. It is situated on the edge of the Calera de Bandama (volcano), just 15 minutes from Las Palmas, with wonderful views of central Gran Canaria. Many of the putting surfaces are elevated, and while not heavily protected by bunkers, they provide a genuine challenge to golfers, requiring them to hit their approach shot high and try to hold the green. Additionally, the site offers tennis and horse riding facilities. The 18-hole, par-71 course was designed by Mackenzie Ross with the assistance of Dominguez Guedes.
